To build the simplest arch vault, you do not need special skills, it is enough to design a small profile base and sheathe it with sheets. Sometimes in the construction of more complex forms, arched drywall is used, which is much thinner than usual.

There are quite a few ways to use arched vaults. Conventionally, it is possible to divide the functional purpose of arches into several main groups.

Most often, they replace interior openings, which allows you to get rid of cluttering space door leafs. Thus, the home is filled with a lot of air and light. Also an important function of the arch is to participate in the zoning of the living area. For example, with their help, you can highlight a children's corner in the room, study or sleeping bed. Often arches are equipped in studio apartments, separating the working area of ​​the kitchen. Creating an arch is a creative process that will allow you to experiment with any form. Sometimes such designs have a stunning look, with many bends and decorative inserts. Nevertheless, there are basic types of arched vaults that serve as the basis for creating various variations, namely:

1. Roman - an arch representing a semicircular vault. This is the most common type of arched ceilings, which is also called classic. This design looks great in rooms with high ceilings. In low rooms, you can give it a lower but wider shape.

2. British - ideal for rooms with low ceilings, as the arched protrusion has a truncated radius and rounded corners, and flowing shapes visually "raise" the height of the walls.

3. Ellipsoidal - a variant similar to the previous one, however, the corners here are not rounded. The rigor of the forms allows the use of such structures in combination with arches of a different modification.

4. Trapezoid - the design consists of broken lines. Due to the lack of rounded shapes, it looks rather concise. This custom design is more common in modern styles.

5. Square - the most simple, at first glance, the form, also called the portal. In fact, this is an ordinary doorway, but finishing materials give a special aesthetic.
